- Unless otherwise noted in the catalog entry, the VIN CE classes are RACE approved or have been submitted for RACE approval. See Find a RACE Program
Participants should be aware that some boards have limitations on the number of hours accepted in certain categories and/or restrictions on certain methods of delivery of continuing education. Please check with your credentialing body for specifics.

VIN CE courses:
- Veterinarians: basic assumes a graduate veterinarian knowledge base. Basic courses are designed for veterinarians wishing to acquire knowledge in a broad subject area, review basic subject matter, review an expanding or updating field, or expand multidisciplinary or comparative skills in practice.
- Veterinary students may participate in some basic VIN CE courses; however, additional reading or effort may be required.
- Credentialed or experienced veterinary technicians may participate in some basic VIN CE courses at the discretion of the instructor; however, additional reading or effort may be required.
- Veterinary support staff and veterinary technician students may not enroll in VIN CE courses unless otherwise listed in the level/prerequisites.
- Practice Managers

VSPN CE courses:
- Veterinarians: VSPN CE basic courses are at a support staff basic level. Veterinarians are welcome to take these courses and encouraged to do so with their staff as a team building experience.
- Veterinary students may participate in basic VSPN CE courses and are eligible for the 50% discount.
- All veterinary support staff may take basic VSPN CE courses; however, experienced and credentialed veterinary technicians (including VTS) may find the course too general.
NOTE: The term 'basic' does not imply the course is restricted to long-standing or foundational knowledge; basic courses may contain new information and points of controversy in a discipline. |
| Intermediate |
VIN CE courses:
- Veterinarians: intermediate indicates that VIN CE offers (or plans to offer) three different levels of advancement through a topic. Not all topics will have intermediate courses. Intermediate courses may require previous basic level courses as prerequisites (or equivalent experience). Intermediate courses accommodate the desire veterinarians to gain further knowledge on the topic.
VSPN CE courses:
- Veterinarians: VSPN CE intermediate courses are at a credentialed veterinary technician or practice management level (based on topic). Veterinarians are welcome to take these courses and encouraged to do so with their staff as a team building experience.
- Veterinary students may participate in intermediate VSPN CE courses and are eligible for the 50% discount.
- All veterinary support staff may take intermediate VSPN CE courses; however, additional reading or effort may be required.

| Advanced |
VIN CE courses:
- Veterinarians: advanced VIN CE courses have a prerequisite course or veterinarians must have the requisite experience. General practitioners with a good level of experience in the specific topic can participate in advanced classes.
VSPN CE courses:
- Veterinarians: VSPN CE advanced courses are at a credentialed veterinary technician specialist or certified practice management level (based on topic). Veterinarians are welcome to take these courses and encouraged to do so with their staff as a team building experience.
- Veterinary students may participate in advanced VSPN CE courses; however, additional reading or effort may be required. Veterinary students are eligible for the 50% discount.
- Advanced VSPN CE courses are not recommended for veterinary assistants or other support staff.

| Specialty |
- Some VIN and VSPN courses are developed by specialty organizations for their members with advanced certifications or degrees. Some of these courses are available to generalists although additional reading and work may be required. Specialty courses may involve more review of the recent literature than other courses.
