Bryce Fleming
Education
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, University Saskatchewan Western College of Vet. Med., 1987
Current Professional Status
Owner and solo-practitioner at Powell River Veterinary Hospital, Powell River BC, a small town about 80 miles north of Vancouver. I am a student of all but master of none.
Past Professional Activity
Lethbridge Alberta '87 to '89 Feed lot and cow-calf management with Lethbridge Animal Clinic.
Whitehorse Yukon Territories '89 to '95: owner-solo practitioner at Midnight Sun Veterinary Services.
Regina Saskatchewan '96 to 2003 mixed practice with Sherwood Animal Clinic, 50% equine,50% other.
2003 to 2010 small animal practice with Airport Animal Hospital.
Personal Interests
I still swim 4 times weekly. I trained and taught Shotokan Karate for nearly 25 years. I wrote several articles on karate that were internationally published. I have an interest in Art and Art History and will read anything about high altitude mountain climbing despite my overwhelming fear of heights. I am currently the major sponsor of a regional photography contest in Regina Saskatchewan called the "Finding Calista Photography Contest".
Family
My wife Roni and I have been happily married since 1988. We had one child, Calista, who tragically died of Sudden Arrhythmia Death Syndrome in 2012. We have dedicated the remainder of our lives to preserving her memory. We have two cats who keep us up at night and are plotting to kill us as soon as the lawyer tells them the will has been changed.
What I like most about VIN
two things really. The community is wonderful and, for the solo-practitioner, the second opinions on cases are indispensable.
