The Wildlife Disease Association has made the enclosed brochures available for your use. As you may know the WDA has been quite responsive to the needs of our organization. They have invited us to meeting jointly with them for the past two years and they are now in the midst of publishing the proceedings of our last conference. The proceedings will appear in both the October 1971 and January 1972 issues of the Journal of Wildlife Diseases; each copy is available at the cost of $3.75 ($7.50 for the complete set of papers). The cost of membership in the organization is $10.00 per year which includes a complete subscription to the J. Wild. Dis. (and our proceedings).
From a practical standpoint I would encourage our members to join the WDA, at least for the forthcoming year. Should we desire to be represented at their next meeting, it will also allow all of us to "rub shoulders" and exchange ideas.
On October 11, 1971, a seminar cosponsored by the IAAAM and AALAS was held at the Americana Hotel in New York City. The title of the seminar was "Use of Exotic Animal Species in Biological Research with Emphasis on Marine Species." I chaired the session. The following people along with title of presentation participated:
Dr. J.R. Geraci, "Nutrition and Husbandry of Seals and Sea Lions in Captivity"
Dr. J.L. Mattsson., "Cetaceans in Biomedical Research"
Dr. J.F. Allen, "Disease Control and Prevention in Marine Mammals"
Dr. K.E. Wolf, "An Outline of Basic Considerations for Care and Handling of Fishes as Laboratory Animals
The presentations were delivered well and we had quite a nice audience for the entire afternoon. I heard some nice noises from non-IAAAM people concerning the seminar.
"Cetology", a new journal devoted to the biology of cetaceans, will be published by Biological Systems, Inc., P.O. Box 26, St. Augustine, Florida, 32084. The subscription rate is $15.00 per unit of 250 pages. Dr. D.K. Caldwell is the managing editor. A charge will be made for publications.

I am in the process of preparing a list of our membership to distribute to you. The holdup is not having current addresses from a few people. Last week, I sent out cards to 28 people whose dues for 1971 are in arrears. Please. The response to this plea may well have a very marked effect on the future of the IAAAM.
Plans for our annual meeting in Hawaii are progressing. Drs. Keyes and Palumbo are in charge of both the program and local arrangements. When I have more information, I will forward it to you.
Since I have nothing more to add, I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone the best for the holiday season and a prosperous and happy 1972.
