Abstract: In our countries, many chronic demodectic mange (demodicosis) cases remain without treatment because this could be long and costly, being the euthanasia a viable option. The homeopathy appears as a treatment alternative, being a natural and low cost medicine. I present a clinical case, with a chronic demodicosis, which was treated homeopathically. The results achieved in this case with this type of medicine, are very encouraging, opening us the possibility to outline the homeopathy as an economic and effective alternative.

Introduction: In Bogotá, a high percentage of low economical stratum dogs, demodicosis constitutes an entity of difficult cure. Reason why is necessary to look for viable and inexpensive options of treatment, belonging the homeopathy one to them.

Clinical Case: A female canine 9 month old pitbull, came to consultation because it was found in the streets in poor conditions, showing an evident skin problem. The physical exam, exhibit a body score condition of II/V, odorous generalized seborrheic dermatitis, pustules and sore bleeding areas, marked alopecia, and additionally she showed inflammation and cracking sound of her left hip, being a calm, but fearful dog. She had a good appetite, urinates and defecates normally. The complementary exams proved demodicosis, secondary bacterial and fungus infection, toxocariasis and multiple hip fractures. Being that she was street dog, I decided to do a homeopathic treatment. I performed the repertory analysis of this clinical case and after the study of the possible appropriate remedies, I opt to administer Sulphur at centesimal scale in a single dose, with a second dose given at 2 1/2 months in a high potency.

It is important to point out that I didn't use any conventional treatment, just and exclusively homeopathic treatment, improving in the patient's environmental and nutritional conditions. Continuous controls were done over the course of 1 year.

Conclusions: Through out this clinical case, we can observe that the homeopathy did worked, improving a not very favorable condition as the chronic demodicosis. Also, we could witness a very favorable evolution of the seborrheic dermatitis, the disappearance of the pustules and bleeding ulcers, as well as the hence presence of new coat and general improvement of the patient's corporal and psychic state. Therefore it's proven that the real exercise of the classical, homeopathy doesn't require combinations of allopathic treatments, to achieve improvements, and this is a feasible and cost-effective option due the limited resources that we are face to work with.
