The oral neoplasms affect about 6% of the canine population; the fibrosarcoma is the third most observed form in dogs. Most of the time it is verified on the soft and hard palate. The clinical signs may evolve from dysphagia, anorexia, until weight loss. The objective of this paper is to report the case of a canine (female, non-castrated, without breed, adult, weighing 7 kg) that was admitted to the University of Passo Fundo Veterinary Hospital (HV-UPF), Brazil, manifesting a tumor mass in the oral cavity.

On clinical examination, the physiological parameters were normal to species. On oral inspection, a tumor mass was observed in the maxillary region, of firm consistency and adhered (Figure 1).

The mass involved almost the entire upper arch and the hard palate. However, the animal fed normally. Complementary diagnostics such as hemogram, biochemical profile (ALT, ALP, albumin, urea, and creatinine), skull radiography, and cytological analysis were required. The patient was referred to surgery (Figure 2), and the treatment instituted was tramadol (4 mg/kg^-1, TID, SC), meloxicam (0,1 mg/kg^-1, SID, IV), metronidazole (20 mg/kg^-1, BID, IV), cephalothin (20 mg/kg^-1, TID, IV), and the feeding was through probe of pharyngostomy.

Histopathology examination was conducted, which confirmed a fibrosarcoma. The neoplasms may cause serious problems; in this way it brings up the importance of early diagnosis, to better therapeutic approach and larger survival of the affected patient.
