Malocclusion refers to abnormal alignment of teeth. Skeletal malocclusion results when abnormal jaw alignment causes the teeth are in an abnormal direction. A dental malocclusion or malposition occurs when one or more teeth are out of normal alignment, although the jaws are aligned normally. When a skeletal trauma or dental malocclusion other teeth or soft tissue cause, the condition is referred to as "non-functional" and indicate a treatment is needed to solve the problem. Correction options include extraction, move the tooth or teeth that cause the problem or that they cause a problem, or surgically create an additional space for the malpositioned tooth occupies it.
