304 Vestibulo Version With a Acrylic Plate (Elevation Bite and Inclinate Plane)
HISTORY
In our clinic came a seven months Bearded collie. Presents a several palatal trauma induced by a lower left canine (304). All the others pieces are in the mouth and have a good canine occlusion and molar relation. We have a different alternatives treatments.
1. Fixed techniques with an arch and brackets but it's difficult by the alveolar bone make a mechanic barrier.
2. Lower Hawley plate with a expansion screw, but it's necessary a elevation bite and we think that it is not a easy construction.
3. Upper acrylic plate with two metallic bands fixation in a canines, inclinate plane between 203-204 and a elevation bite in the incisal site.
We elected the last technique; we made the impressions, bite control and design of the plate. After the preparation in the laboratory was fixed with a cianocrylato. The proprietors must clean three times by day with a chlorhexidine fluid. The dog was controlled all the weeks and in the 6th was removed by recolocation and overcorrection of the lower canine. In the removed time present a gingivitis area around the metallic bands. In 15 days the 304 make a palatal version for their physiological site.
DISCUSSION
The orthodontics solutions can present different techniques for choice. In this case we elected the inclinated plane because is a speed solution, but can have a troubles like a possible ligament damage and the recolocation to the original site. We need a serious control in all the time to removed the plate in their moment, or to make a step in the plane for stabilization of the piece and wait for this time. This dog have not a radicular reabsorption and not a ligament damage. But the 304 it is in the vestibular borderline of the alveolar bone of their site.
