Would you consent to euthanize a mature/not elderly but physically healthy and non-aggressive pet for an owner who is no longer able to keep or rehome the animal?
It is a sad fact that at some point, most veterinarians in practice are presented with a physically and behaviorally healthy pet for euthanasia due to client circumstances. Do you try to rehome the pet? Adopt it yourself? Euthanize without question? What do you do in these cases? Please visit the Front Page and take this week's Quick Poll to share your thoughts on these difficult situations.
Is practice ownership still the natural career goal for veterinarians? Last week's Quick Poll examining attitudes toward practice ownership is a repeat from past years, beginning in 2014.
When VINners were first asked this question, just over 30% said they did not want to own a practice. That percentage has steadily increased over the past 7 years with 38% and 42% rejecting ownership in 2018 and 2019. This year, over 46% of responding VINners say they do not wish to be practice owners.
If you missed any previous polls, you can see the results of older polls in the Quick Poll Archives. |
