Sunday Rounds: VIN Community Update
VIN is a PLACE as much as it is a THING or SERVICE. Just like your hometown, VIN has varied services, ways to be involved, resources and activities to participate in and make use of, and ways to give back.

And like so many of our home towns, VIN has grown over the past years and needs your insights to ensure that our community's limited resources are applied in ways that most equitably benefit all VINners.

Join VIN co-founder, Paul Pion, DVM, DACVIM, this Sunday night at 10 p.m. ET for a VIN Community Update.

Of the 278 treated horses, 239 (85.9%) completed the 25 day study without additional therapy compared to 50 of the 95 (53.6%) placebo horses. In confirmed Strep. zoo. cases, a clinical cure was achieved in 66.9% of 145 treated horses compared to 32.1% of 56 placebo horses. Two doses of sustained release ceftiofur suspension were effective and safe in the treatment of naturally acquired lower respiratory tract infection associated with Strep. zoo. in horses under field use conditions.

Large drop in revenue: possible causes and what can I do about it?
Compared to 2010 my 2011 revenue is down 30%! No real change in anything in the practice. Could it just be this debt ceiling thing? The first 5 months were down about 10% each and June was down 25%. How can I cope with this much of a cut?

Risk of rodenticide toxicosis from ingestion of poisoned rats
Can a dog have clinical bleeding from ingesting poisoned mice or rats? I swear that there was a paper - may have been out of Australia - that investigated this and found that it was not likely/possible for a dog to eat enough poisoned rodents to induce bleeding in the dog.

Care Credit for solo practice: How hard is it to set up, and is it worth it?
How much time does it take for a hospital staff member to have a client apply for Care Credit? Is there much of a learning curve for staff to understand how to do it?
