Nonfatal fall-related injuries associated with dogs and cats--United States, 2001-2006
The analysis showed that an estimated average of 86,629 fall injuries each year were associated with cats and dogs, for an average annual injury rate of 29.7 per 100,000 population. Nearly 88% of injuries were associated with dogs, and among persons injured, females were 2.1 times more likely to be injured than males.

Soft-hydrothermal processing of red cedar bedding reduces its induction of cytochrome P450 in mouse liver
Soft-hydrothermal (ST) processing partially removed many components of esential oils of red cedar (EORC). This study demonstrated that the removal of these volatile compounds by soft-hydrothermal processing can decrease the hepatic P450-inducing effect of red cedar bedding.

Administration of sulpiride or domperidone for advancing the first ovulation in deep anestrous mares
The establishment of pregnancy was significantly hastened in sulpiride (61.0+/-35.2 days), but not in domperidone (83.0+/-44.0 days) treated mares. Treated mares not pregnant after the first artificial insemination, showed normal estrous cycles with regular interovulatory intervals. It was concluded that sulpiride is effective in advancing the beginning of transition period and the first ovulation, whereas domperidone is successful only in some mares.

What's causing the oral lesion in this puppy?
This 18 week old aussie banged the right side of his face on a coffee table Easter Sunday. There was some bruising at the time-it hasn't bothered the dog since. Today, the dog came in for final puppy vaccines and the swelling is 3 x the size it was 6 weeks ago, according to the owner. The area involved is on the mucosa just above the 2nd max premolar. Radiographs do not demonstrate any boney or dental lesions.

Can I print my prescription blanks?
Is it legal for me to make my own prescription page and print it myself? If I do this, what information has to be on the form? When I owned a clinic, I got faxed Rx forms to sign from places like Pet Meds Express, and that's what gave me the idea. I hate to buy the large number of pads usually required for an order.

Dog with adverse reaction to porphyromonas vaccine administered by technician: should I reimburse emergency clinic fees?
Client feels that the dog developed a reaction because technician gave the shot, and if I had given it, there would not have been a problem.

Dog with petechiation of gums and normal platelets; significance of overfilling tubes for coagulation studies?
The ratio of anticoagulant to blood is critical, so should fill just to the line in the tube. If vacutainer, it should fill based on the vacuum.
