COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course is designed to show how to prepare and implement an in-house staff training program for any veterinary practice. Phil Seibert, CVT is a well known worldwide speaker on the topic of training staff, hospital safety and policy issues.
The course will have three 90-minute online sessions presenting an overview of the training process, topics and teaching methods that will really work for your hospital, interactive message boards to discuss the real time sessions, and homework assignments giving you the opportunity to try the methods and systems with your team.
All office managers, practice managers, hospital administrators, supervisors, and veterinarians are welcome to join the course and its discussions. This course has been submitted for RACE approval for veterinarians and veterinary technicians and has been submitted to VHMA for approval towards CVPM requirements.

COURSE OUTLINE:
Week 1: Training the new staff member
Content: During this session, we will discuss how to setup a new employee orientation and training program.
Week 2: Training the existing staff member
Content: During this session, we will discuss the various techniques for delivering the message consistently to the existing staff. We will also discuss some of the mechanics of holding effective staff meetings and training sessions.
Week 3: Delivering the material
Content: This session will focus on solving some of the "problem areas" in the training program, including managing all the interruptions to training schedules and meetings. We will also discuss the effective use of handouts and quizzes.
MESSAGE BOARD DISCUSSIONS: Message board discussions regarding the topic presented will begin on the day the course opens and continue for one week following the last real time session. These discussions will be held in the VSPN CE course area.

$90 ($81 early bird special if enrolled before August 24, 2010).
*Students currently enrolled in and taking at least 2 classes or 5 units at an AVMA accredited or CAAHT approved Veterinary Technician Program may be eligible to receive a 50% discount off the regular rate for this course (upon verification of student status).
