Course Information:
This course is intended to give a broad overview of the concepts related to canine and feline vaccination. Topics will include the history and mechanism of vaccination, an overview of conditions we vaccinate against, the most up to date recommendations on vaccine scheduling, and a discussion of possible adverse events. This course is primarily directed towards newer graduates and those new to the canine/feline field, but it would also serve as a good refresher for seasoned companion animal practitioners.


Learning Objectives: Upon completion of the course, the participant should be able to
  • discuss the history of vaccination.
  • understand the mechanics of vaccination.
  • discuss core versus non-core decision making.
  • understand the application and potential pitfalls of titers.


Level and Prerequisites: This basic VIN CE course is open for enrollment to veterinarians interested in expanding their understanding of canine and feline vaccinations.
Credit Approval: This course is approved for 6 hours of continuing education credit by RACE for veterinarians. (RACE 20-1239912)


Course Agenda:

Week 1 (Real Time Session March 5, 2025): Vaccinology
During this session you will more about the history of vaccination, understand it’s mechanics and the application and potential pitfalls of titres.

Week 2 (Real Time Session March 12, 2025): Feline Vaccination
This session will be an overview of conditions we vaccinate against in the feline patient (etiology, pathophysiology, diagnosis and management) as well as discuss the feline vaccination schedule.

Week 3 (Real Time Session March 19, 2025): Canine Vaccination
This session will be an overview of conditions we vaccinate against in the canine patient (etiology, pathophysiology, diagnosis, and management).as well as discuss the canine vaccination schedule.

Week 4 (Real Time Session March 26, 2025): Adverse Events Associated with Vaccination
During this session we will discuss common and uncommon responses to vaccination and their management.

    3. Veterinarians will only receive credit for those VSPN CE courses that specify in the Accreditation statement that the course is accredited for veterinarians.
