COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course in Veterinary Dental Techniques is designed to allow discussions of current techniques used in veterinary dentistry. Veterinarians practicing all levels of veterinary dentistry are invited to participate, from the veterinarian just interested in getting more information in veterinary dentistry to the Board Certified Veterinary Dentist.
The fifth module will be devoted to the treatment of orthodontic malocclusions and fractures of the maxilla and mandible.
Course Outline:
Week 1 (May 12):
Occlusal evaluation, classes of occlusion, interceptive orthodontics, taking impressions, making models, types of appliances (Matson)
Week 2 (May 19):
Placing brackets, placing orthodontic appliances, adjusting orthodontic appliances, special purpose appliances (Holmstrom)
Week 3 (May 26):
Anatomy, biomechanics, initial fracture management, principles of maxillofacial fracture repair, tape muzzles, treatment of symphyseal separation
Week 4 (June 2):
Mandibular fractures, wiring techniques, intraoral splints (Holmstrom)

Discussions will begin on the start date of the course and continue for 7 days following the last real-time session.

The Veterinary Dental Techniques Modules are each separate courses; you may enroll in one or all if you wish and there is no prerequisite.

COURSE WITHDRAWAL AND REFUND POLICY: Withdrawal prior to the listed start date of a course entitles the registrant to a complete refund or a credit toward a future VIN CE course, whichever is preferred. Withdrawal within 1 week after the listed start date (i.e. including no more than one real-time session) entitles the registrant to a credit toward any future VIN CE course. (Does not apply to courses with only one real-time session.) After the first real-time session, a registrant may withdraw due to special circumstances and receive prorated credit towards a future VIN course. These requests will be handled on an individual basis. The amount of the prorated credit will be determined based on 65% of the time remaining in the course at the time of withdrawal.
