Welcome to the Azodyl in Renal Failure Trial (ART)
Welcome to the Azodyl in Renal Failure Trial (ART)
ART is the first placebo-controlled clinical trial examining the efficacy of Azodyl ® in reducing azotemia and uremia in cats with chronic renal failure. This trial is being conducted by Dr. Mark Rishniw and Paul Pion at the Veterinary Information Network (VIN) and has been largely funded by the VIN Foundation. For future reference, we encourage you to bookmark this page.
Getting Started as a ART Investigator:
- Read the ART protocol to determine if your patient is eligible. You can download it here, or click to read it online.
- If you believe your patient is eligible to participate in the ART, you can enroll them online. Your patient will be provisionally enrolled at the end of this procedure.
- You and your client will be contacted by the ART coordinators within 24 hrs to confirm patient eligibility and to arrange drug shipment and to answer any questions you might have.
- Do you have Access already? You may already have a username and password if you are, or have been, a VIN member or have attended conferences with proceedings powered by VIN. Click here to check username/password via email.
- If a prior username and password are identified, you will be sent a reminder by email. You can then use your username and password to enroll your patient.
- If a prior username and password are not identified, you can set up a username and password and proceed to enrollment. To set up a username and password, please call VINGRAM on 1-800-700-4636, ask for Laura, and mention the ART study. Laura will help assign a username and password.
- To update information on an enrolled patient, use the Update Existing Patient Button in the upper right corner. This will direct you to the Update form.
- To contact the ART coordinators, click here, or call 916-275-1650.
- To download enrollment, update, client consent and daily log forms, use the links on the top right. You can mail these in if you prefer NOT to use the online system.
The small print:
The ART online system is hosted by VIN through support provided by the VIN Foundation. Similar to a growing list of veterinary online proceedings and journals, the ART online system is hosted under VIN security. We wish to emphasize that there is NO REQUIREMENT OR ENCOURAGEMENT TO JOIN VIN. The VIN Foundation is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation.
Username and password.
If you do not have a username and password, you will need to complete a quick application which will allow you access to ART. There is no requirement or encouragement to join VIN. The use of VIN security is to reduce the need for multiple username/password combinations for the majority of online veterinarians who already have access to VIN or VIN hosted online conference proceedings. You will only be allowed access to ART. VIN will not distribute, or use the information you provide to access ART in any way that is not associated with this study. If you wish to apply for a free VIN trial, you can do so from www.vin.com. If you experience technical difficulties, please contact VIN at 800.700.4636 or email VINGRAM@vin.com.
Other stuff:
The study coordinators will determine patient eligibility after enrollment is complete.
